Halloween falls on a weekend this year, and with community events planned for the Marshall area, trick-or-treaters should have plenty of chances to have fun.

Family-friendly events take place on Saturdays and Sundays, including trunk or treat events, hay rides, and even ice skating. Marshall events like Rock on Ice at the Red Baron Arena, the YMCA Halloween Carnival, and the HALloween Residence at SMSU all return on Saturday.

There are also some spooky events, like the Haunted Tower, which will open at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday night. Groups can book time online to climb the training tower at the MERIT Center in Marshall, which has been transformed into five floors of spooks.

Halloween events are also planned in the area, including Tracy, Walnut Grove, Granite Falls and Holmberg Orchard. See the list below for more details on events in the area:

Today

• The Haunted Tower on Erie Road

Where: MERIT Center, 1001 West Erie Road, Marshall

When: 7 pm-11pm

Reservations and dispensation compulsory. $ 5 entry. Groups of 6 can register for a time slot on visitmarshallmn.com. The event benefits the SMSU Drama Club and SMSU Today Alumni Tomorrow students.

Saturday

• a day of family fun for Halloween

Where: Departmental Museum of Lyon, Marshall

When: 10 am-5pm

Activities include a pumpkin scavenger hunt, crafts and coloring activities, orange floats or $ 1 root beer in the ice cream shop. Children dressed in a Halloween costume will receive a bag of goodies.

• Downtown Marshall Trick or Treat

Where: Participating downtown businesses. Signs will be posted on the doors of participating businesses.

When: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

• Halloween at the YMCA

Where: YMCA of the Marshall Region

When: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Come in disguise and play games to win prizes and candy. Free will donations accepted for the YMCA Scholarship Fund.

• Halloween Rock on Ice

Where: Red Baron Arena & Expo, Marshall

When: The sessions are available from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., from 1:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Pre-registration required at https://bit.ly/MCS2021Registration. The fee for children of grade 8 and under is $ 10. Includes skate rental.

• Trunk or treat at Saint-Rédempteur

Where: Holy Redeemer School Parking Lot, Marshall

When: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

• Trunk or candy at Samuel Lutheran’s

Where: Samuel Lutheran School Parking Lot, Marshall

When: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

• Granite Falls Community Trunk N Treat

Where: Eighth Street between Prentice Street and Third Street, Granite Falls.

When: 2 p.m.-5 p.m.

• HALloween Residence

Where: Recording at Commons Central, Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall

When: 4 pm-7pm

Candy, games and crafts for Kindergarten to Grade 6 children and their families. Admission is $ 1 or a non-perishable item for local food banks.

• Holmberg Orchard Moonlight Hayride

Where: Holmberg Orchard, 12697 325th Street, Vesta

When: 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The last race starts at 8:30 p.m.

Hauntfest will be at Holmberg Orchard for a fun and exciting walk in the dark. The youngest must be accompanied by an adult. Recommended for ages 6 and up. The food truck will be open. Voluntary donation.

Where: Lee-Mar Ranch, Granite Falls

When: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The event includes a ride or treat in the stalls aisle, a vendor show in an indoor arena, and Papa D.’s Food Truck.

• Trunk or treat at Cornerstone United

Where: Cornerstone United Methodist Church Parking Lot, Marshall

When: 3 pm-5pm

• Outdoor Trick or Treat at Heritage Pointe

Where: Heritage Pointe Senior Living, 207 North Fourth Street, Marshall

When: 3 pm-5pm

• the Halloween parade at Hill Street Place

Where: Hill Street Place, Marshall

When: 4 pm-5:30pm

Tricky treaters can parade past the windows of Hill Street Place’s living room and dining room in their costumes. Participants will receive a bag of goodies.

• Trick or Treat Main Street

Where: Walnut Grove

When: 4 pm-6pm

Free event for kids including treats, face painting, hot dogs and juice boxes.

• Trunk or treat in Sanford Tracy

Where: Sanford Tracy South Parking Lot, Tracy

When: 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Children are encouraged to walk past Prairie View Healthcare and O’Brien Court in their costumes.

• Trunk or Treat at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church

Where: St. Stephen Parking Lot, 1301 S. Fourth Street, Marshall

When: 5:45 p.m. – 7 p.m.
