MCE directs churches to promote congregational activities
Mr. Kofitsey Martin Nyahe, the Municipal Chief Executive of Akatsi South, called on the churches to champion the activities of the local assemblies for rapid growth.
He said there was a need for faith leaders to engage their members on the importance of “citizen participation and compliance” at the local level.
This, he said, would help the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) achieve their development goals.
Mr Nyahe made the call as part of an engagement with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of this year’s ‘Presbytery Representatives’ Conference’ by the Evangelical Church’s Akatsi Presbytery world.
He commended the Church for the key roles played to complement the development efforts of governments over the years.
Mr. Nyahe also assured the Church of his support in promoting certain activities of the Church for spiritual growth and stability.
Rev. Moses Sepenu, Chairman of the Akatsi Local Council of Churches, reiterated the need for religious bodies to remain united for a common purpose.
The conference, themed “Faithful Stewards,” recorded representatives from the various parishes and districts of the Church who served as the local synod, the highest decision-making body of the Church.
Mr. Bernard SK Attatsi, special guest and member of the main committee of the Church, charged the leaders to maintain truth and order in all aspects of life.
Some department heads also attended the event which was held at the auditorium of Akatsi Church’s Shalom Chapel.
