Gibson keeps ball in the park as Bohm, Phils edges 1-0
The Phillies have won three straight and five of their last six.
Gibson allowed two hits and none walked in seven innings.
A week earlier in Philadelphia, Gibson allowed back-to-back homers from Nolan Arenado, Nolan Gorman, Juan Yepez and Dylan Carlson. It was the first time in major league history that a team had four straight in the first inning.
Cardinals starter Dakota Hudson has allowed two hits and two walks in six scoreless innings after not throwing past the fifth in each of his previous four starts. Saint-Louis lost seven out of nine.
Darick Hall led the Phillies ninth with a brace against Giovanny Gallegos (2-3). Pinch runner Mickey Moniak became the first runner in the game to reach third base on Didi Gregorius’ bunt single and Bohm called with his go-ahead.
Yepez drew an early walk from Corey Knebel to start St. Louis’ ninth and took third when Bohm threw in a Paul Goldschmidt grounder.
Goldschmidt stole second base as Arenado put out, then Knebel retired Carlson on weak ground and Corey Dickerson on a fly to the warning track. Knebel got his 12th save in 16 chances.
José Alvarado (3-1) pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
The Cardinals have gone 46 innings without an earned run on a hit since Gorman’s RBI single in the first inning of Tuesday’s game at Atlanta.
Phillies: RHP Connor Brogdon (COVID-19) will make his next rehab appearance on Sunday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Brogdon was scheduled to pitch on Saturday, but felt a strain in his right forearm.
